Special Event

Today at 1:00, join library staff and the Armstrong Air & Space Museum upstairs in the Village Chambers for a presentation called "Parachute Egg Drop." This STEM activity is geared for those ages 4 and up and we encourage entire families to attend. Participants will work in groups to create a device that will land safely without breaking the egg inside, using only the materials given.  Participants will learn about the difficulty landing rovers on other worlds.   This will be a fun and educational program which will last approximately 45 minutes.

Registration is now closed!!! ***Event starts promptly at 6:00 (those arriving past 6:00 will not be allowed to enter as recording will be in progress). REGISTRATION is required and you may register beginning June 1st.  Please call or stop by to register.  E-mail, social media message and online registration will not available. Are you someone who loves reading reviews of books prior to reading them? Join Tina and Valorie on Instagram and Facebook as they read one star reviews of super popular and current fiction books. They won't tell you the book title, but instead ask you to guess the title in the comments.  The title of the book will be revealed the following day!  There are some really fun and crazy reviews out there and we are ready to read them all and share them with you. 

Everyone is invited to join us for Picnic in the Park! Meet at the gazebo next to the library. Bring your own lunch or a snack and plan on good conversation and meeting new friends. Staff members will be at each session to talk about books and the community or to answer any questions you may have.   We encourage those that attend Storytime to stay for a fun lunch with friends.  But, you don't have to attend Storytime to attend Picnic in the Park! Event will last approximately 30 minutes.  Please call with questions.

Preschoolers and school age children and their families are invited to join in as a staff member reads aloud from a Juvenile Fiction book.  We will read at least the first chapter or as much as we can read in 20 minutes.  We will read from a different book each session.  Books will be chosen that are appropriate for the age group and you might decide to check out a few books to take home!

Stop by to see our "Staff Stacks!"  Each staff member has chosen their favorite books of the year (so far) and has their stack ready for you to look at and check out.  The Staff Stacks will include books from all reading and age levels.  Not ready to read right now? Stop by and take a pic of the stacks and refer to it in the future when you are ready to read!

Stop by anytime this week to see great displays of children's books. We will have classics, old favorites and new books on display.  There will also be children's book activities to take home or do here. So, take a few minutes to stop by and see all the great books we have to offer.

It's National Library Week 2023 and we are having a Checkout Challenge! We are challenging all of our patrons to check out lots of items.  Our goal is 500 items checked out between Monday, April 24th and Saturday, April 29th.  Receive 1 ticket for each item checked out!

Plan on bringing your crew to join this fun group! We will be experimenting with air dry clay.  What can you make? There will be some "tiny food jewelry" on display as an inspiration.  As always, we will have all of our beading supplies out if you would rather do some beading.  With the air dry clay and the beads, you are only limited by your imagination! We will craft for 1 hour and there will be snacks.

It's Spring Break in Centerburg! Having a Staycation? Don't be bored...stop in each day to do our Boredom Buster activities! Activities start at noon and continue until closing time.  All ages may participate in our amazing Boredom Busters!
