Join us all this week for special events and activities that lead up to the Annular Eclipse on Saturday, October 14th.

Attend any event and just ask to receive a pair of eclipse glasses (one pair per person and supplies are very limited). Because there will be another eclipse in April 2024, we ask that you keep your eclipse glasses in a safe spot so that you may use them again for that eclipse.

Special events and activities each day this week to celebrate the upcoming eclipse! Attend any Moon Week event and just ask to receive special eclipse glasses (limit 1 per person--supplies are very limited). 

Monday 4/1/24: Space Storytimes 11 am & 6 pm and Space Race (all day).  Space Race is a scavenger hunt to find all that you need to travel to space! Space Race will be going on the entire week.

Dog Days of Summer

We will be participating in the community's Dog Days of Summer event! The majority of the event will take place in Bell Park (across from the gazebo and right beside Scissor Shack), but for our treat we ask that you stop in at the library between 10-3 to pick up a take-home dog (or cat) magnet kit.  Supplies are limited.

National School Picture Day

School picture days create memories that last a lifetime. Celebrate this day by stopping by the library to see staff school pictures on display.  Today, show us any of your school pictures from time-gone-by to receive a special treat! All ages are encouraged to participate!

Learn about Geocaching!

Join us for a presentation about geocaching.  Sandy McCann and Katie Hux will let you know everything it takes to get started as a geocacher.  Sandy has been geocaching for years and has enjoyed this hobby as she travels all over the U.S.  Katie is retired from the Knox County Parks District and has been instrumental in organizing and setting up geocaches all over Knox County.  They both have so much experience and information that this is sure to be a fun event. Toothpick Engineering

All ages are invited to come spend an hour to be a toothpick engineer! Work by yourself, with a friend or a whole team to build whatever you like using only toothpicks and marshmallows! Can you build a tall structure? A domed shape building? Come and find out! 

LEGO Play Day

All ages are invited to stop by today from 10 am - 6 pm to build with our LEGOs.  Make a creation and we will display it for several days for all to see! Please remember that LEGOs are small, so younger children should be accompanied by a grown-up.  

Bingo in the Park

We will be playing B-I-N-G-O for fun and cool prizes! Even non-winners will leave with a treat.  All ages are invited to attend because everyone loves Bingo!  We will meet at the gazebo and you may bring a chair or blanket to sit on, if you wish.  We will play for about 30 minutes. If weather looks bad, we will relocate to meeting room. Please call with questions.

Cardboard Engineering-Towers & Bridges

Use the cardboard tubes and other shapes to make a tall tower and/or a bridge! How tall will you be able to make it before it falls over? We will be creating and measuring to see! We will have all the cardboard and tape that you need to make your best creation. Work alone, with a partner or team to get creative and have fun testing different techniques to make your tower. You may then take it home.  Event will last 45 minutes. All ages are invited.
